These photographs came about as I was
attempting to sort through another identity crisis. Every so often
I seem to lose
track of who I am. After speaking with a number of people, some
real, some fictional, it seems most everyone has developed so many
layers
it’s
difficult to return to the core. We all play so many roles, so many different
characters, that it’s easy to lose track of our true identities.
I’ve tried to take all of these battling psyches of an individual and compress
them into a single photograph. I’ve combined in various amounts, realities,
dreams, fantasies, fears, especially the fears because that’s what
drives a lot of us, and thrown them all on a page leaving them to battle
it out. Some
of the photographs turned into portraits while others took on a more
narrative structure.
Hopefully I’ve captured the complexities of some of these people,
both real and fictional, that I spoke with.
